The month of March and April 2011, I’m in a residency in Bains::Connective. I also continue my Constant activities simultaneously. For the second public moment of this residency, Plankton Bar #39 on the first of April, some Softwearables I have made will be presented. Here’s the little text I wrote about the Plankton bar (always a bit strange to write about yourself ;-)).
As another step in her trajectory Softwearables, Wendy Van Wynsberghe invites you to try out 3 to 4 wearable modules for social interaction. On the spot you will be invited to contribute to making instructions on how to use these modules.
One of the things I have always wanted to do was to visualize the output of the handshake modules, which measure certain gestures of the handshake:
For that I have to do some cerebral archeology – or try to remember how I set this up before. I tend to work in blocks, with quite some other activities in between. Very often I get the feeling that I have to start from scratch. So, in order to connect this physical handshake reality to visualizing software such as Processing, I’m writing down what I’m doing, for example setting up Processing on Linux, because the info I found was a bit messy. So connecting the home made bend sensors to the Arduino, which I “made” I documented with Fritzing:
I’m afraid that the visualizing part, Processing, will be a high dosage of Frankenscript – which will not make the experience any less fun. Come and try some social interaction modules on the 1st of April @GC Ten Weyngaert, Bondgenotenstraat 54 rue des Alliés, Vorst/Forest-5
